Breast Cancer Research

One in nine women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. Although breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK, the mortality rate for women with breast cancer has fallen by almost a fifth over the last decade, thanks to ground breaking clinical research.

Cancer research UK is the largest single funder of breast cancer research in the UK with researchers based throughout the UK – including Aberdeen. The program covers all aspects of breast cancer, from understanding its molecular causes and investigating new ways to prevent it, to improving early detection and developing better treatments.

CLAN

CLAN is an independent charity for anyone affected by any type of cancer at any time from diagnosis onwards. Whether affected personally, as a carer, family member or close friend, their services are available to anyone.

CLAN covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland and provides qualified counsellors, therapists, advice and information to help those affected by cancer. The services offered has helped so many people and has become intrinsic to the community and beyond.

Target

Last year, we raised almost £18,000 which was a fantastic achievement. This year, we hope to beat that figure and have been given a head start due to the £1275 raised by running the Baker Hughes and Race for Life earlier this year.

You can help us reach our target by joining us at our Annual Charity Dinner Dance on September 17th. The event will be held at the Aberdeen Thistle Hotel in Altens where there will be a 3 course dinner served before dancing to local band 'Picture This'.
