| "Docushare
wins Content Management System of the year 2009" The evening of October 22nd saw the great and the good of the Document Management world descend on the Hotel Novotel in London's St Pancras for the DM Awards 2009. In just three years the DM Awards have become the diary date for DM professionals, and an opportunity to highlight the success stories from the past year in the industry, from products and solutions through to major projects and the coveted Company of the Year award. The number of votes cast online increased by over 30% on last year, which reflects the increasing interest in the document and content technologies that are central to DM Magazine’s focus. We were delighted to see more winners than ever before at the dinner, including representatives from companies from all over Europe and the USA. With 24 awards up for grabs this year there were bound to be plenty of talking points. EASY Software took the prize for ‘Company of the Year’, whilst Kodak won ‘Scanner Product of the Year (Workgroup/Departmental)’ for the revolutionary ScanStation 500, which was also runner-up in the ‘Hardware Product of the Year’ category to ibml's Image Trac. DRS won ‘Product of the Year’ for the PS960. The PS960 has gone from strength to strength, featuring in international large scale data capture projects where no other piece of kit could do the job. Perhaps the most significant aspect of this year’s DM Awards was the success of the Project Awards, which were chosen for the first time by our newly formed judging panel. Success stories from the worlds of healthcare, government, private sector and finance, among others, were judged by our carefully selected group of consultants and academics, each bringing their own expertise to the table. Several attendees commented on this innovation, one describing it as having the effect of ‘creating a more grown-up and credible awards’. Among the winners in the Project category were OITUK in the ‘Healthcare & other public sector category’, and Kainos for the ‘Public sector Project of the Year in Government & public services’. DM Editor Dave Tyler commented: “Yet again we have been delighted by the response from the industry and from our readership to the opportunities presented by the DM Awards. The introduction of our judging panel brings us an added authority and integrity that makes this truly the defining event of the year for our industry.” A full list of the winners and runners-up are below, and further coverage of the evening’s exploits (notorious or otherwise!) will feature in the November/December issue of DM Magazine.
